Story

I am a student in Canberra who enjoys road cycling. I have previously trained with the Canberra Cycling Club as well as the Canberra Cycling Development Squad and have competed in criterium, road and track racing events locally and interstate. However, I most enjoy non-competitive endurance cycling events such as the Fitz’s Challenge, the Rotary Canberra Five Peaks Challenge and Amy’s Big Canberra Bike Ride. I have done multiday distance rides with my family along the Victorian Murray to Mountains Rail Trail, Royal National Park to Wollongong, and Mount Buffalo/Mount Beauty. I participated in the first Tour de France L’Etape Australia event in the Snowy Mountains in 2016 which I found to be an exhilarating experience.

I am participating as a member of the Gutsy Team this year to raise funds for research to assist the efforts of the Australasian Gastrointestinal Trials Group (AGTIG). My father Desmond Yip is a medical oncologist who specialises in the treatment of gastrointestinal cancer. He has been directly involved in the planning, design, conduct and treatment of patients on AGITG Clinical Trials. These studies have made very important contributions to improving outcomes for patients with these cancers.

I would be grateful if you would support me in this ride.

Donations made through this platform are secure and will be remitted directly through to the GI Cancer Institute.

Thanks so much for your support!
